
Indonesia's traditional game called Congkak has ancient roots in Africa and the Arab world
One of the interesting things about living in Indonesia
was the discovery of bits of Indonesian culture which was not all in Indonesia, but it originated in the soil. For
century, the Indonesian archipelago was visited by traders from all over the world who come to buy spices and other agricultural property. The benefits of cultural diversity of Indonesia by the many people who passed through the archipelago, because Indonesia is the location along the main trade routes between Europe and Asia.
Together with the items they brought to sell, these traders also bring with them cultural. This includes religion, languages, food and textile traditions. Written about the lack of spices, ceramics and silks, however, is a game that was brought to Indonesia by the tourists for centuries.
The origin Congkak
Congkak have African origin in the Arab world or both, depending on the scholar's theory that you choose to believe. Some of the oldest evidence found at the National
Geographic sponsored an archaeological excavation site dating back to 7000 to 5000 BC present-day Jordan. Excavations of the house uncovered a thick limestone with two parallel rows of circular depressions. The layout is easily recognizable to the archaeologist at the dig as Congkak playing board. Many experts suspect that Congkak May is actually the oldest board game ever.
